Sea breeze. Blue skies. Coconut trees. White sandy beaches. And a dash of adventure. Like the sound of that? Then join the Coral Bay Run this March! Pack your bags and go on an exotic island getaway to the mesmeric island of Pangkor, Perak!
Happening on Sunday, 22 March 2015, the 13km run will bring you on a captivating trail through breathtaking scenery. Whilst a tad tricky, we hear that the route is a fun one—a good break and challenge from your typical flat pavement running routines! Flag off will be at 7:00 a.m., but you can breathe in the fresh, unpolluted air and panoramic views at any time during the run and throughout your vacation.
Organised by Kelab Roadrunners Ipoh (KRI), the Coral Bay Run welcomes runners of all ages and fitness levels. There will be cash prizes for the top 5 places in these categories: Men Open (18-39), Men Veteran (40-49), Men Senior Veteran (50+), Women Open (18-35) and Women Veteran (36+). The first 500 to complete the run will each get a finisher medal too.

What to Expect

Goodie bag collection will be on Saturday, 21 March 2015 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. So what else can you do on your island escapade pre and post-race? You’ll be spoilt for choice!
Island-hop and spot wildlife around the beautiful bays like small crabs and monkeys. Take a relaxing dip as you go snorkelling in the clear blue seas. Adrenaline-junkies will revel in exhilarating jet boat skis and fun banana boat rides with like-minded friends and family. Sun tanning and lazing around on the pristine beaches is a must! But the resort has also planned several great beach activities suitable for all ages.
You can’t miss out on having a hearty local seafood dinner while you’re here! To top that off, there are night-time fishing activities available too. Get hands-on lessons on the different types of marine life along the sea shore. Then enjoy a sumptuous barbeque supper of your fresh catch!
Round off your trip with some sightseeing around Pulau Pangkor. There are shops selling fresh produce and handmade noodles, a number of cafes and restaurants, and temples, just to name some examples. There’s also a lovely antique shop just at the edge of the town, which is 2km away from Coral Bay Resort, heading to Pasir Bogak.

How to Get There
Tucked away in northwest peninsular Malaysia, this island paradise is just over an hour’s drive from Ipoh and a boat ride across glistening waters. Compared to the 40min ferry ride from Lumut Jetty, the new jetty at Marina Island Pangkor offers a short 10min trip at similar ferry service hours and ticket prices.
Alternatively, catch a short flight there—the delightful Coral Bay Resorts is conveniently located just 7km away from Pangkor Airport.
